Canal+ Group is delighted by the outcome of the call for
tenders held by the French National Football League. It will continue to
broadcast all “Ligue 1” championship matches on a weekly basis.
Within a
fiercely competitive environment, Canal+ Group has therefore achieved an
exceptional offering for its subscribers and all football fans by winning 9
packages of rights to broadcast live “Ligue 1” games out of 10
available:
• Thanks to the premium packages (1 and 2), Canal+ Group will
continue to broadcast the best of the “Ligue 1” with the 10 most exciting games
of the season and the major Sunday night match.
• With the Fan packages
(4, 5 and 6), subscribers will have access to all the games played by every
“Ligue 1” club and will be able to watch their favourite club(s) every
week.
• The so-called Multiplex package (package 7) will enable
viewers to watch all the key moments of the season live from the stadiums games
are played in, in particular the first day of the season and the final stages of
the championship including the final two days.
• In addition, Canal+
Group has kept the right to broadcast “Jour de Foot” (package 8), the emblematic
highlights programme of Canal+ showing all the goals, all the commentaries and
all the reactions of players, coaches, etc., in the heat of the moment.
•
The sport talk-show called “Les Spécialistes” (package 10) will return every
Monday evening to analyze the key moments of the weekend with the help of Canal+
experts.
• Last but not least, Canal+ Group has also acquired package 9,
a highlights show covering all competitions broadcast at the beginning of Sunday
evenings. This is a new development for Canal+ as it had not previously
broadcast this programme.
Thanks to all these packages, Canal+ Group
remains the major promoter of the “Ligue 1”, drawing on its unique editorial
expertise including the know-how of its editorial team and prestigious
consultants, as well as constant technological innovation and broadcasting
standards at demanding level required by the world’s great competitions. The
complete coverage of the “Ligue 1” championship, which will begin with the
2008-2009 season, fits into the channel’s football offering that already
includes the best foreign championships —the English Premier League , Italy’s
Calcio, Spain’s Liga, etc. — as well as the Champions League.
